Ibanez Iron Label RGRTBB21 Baritone Electric Guitar - Black Flat
A baritone guitar solves a problem that a downtuned six-string only works around. Rather than slackening standard strings to reach lower pitches, the RGRTBB21's extended baritone scale lets heavier-gauge strings sit at proper tension in low tunings — the result is a low end with genuine attack and pitch definition instead of the wobble that comes from an under-tensioned string.
Neck-Through Construction
The RGRTBB21 uses a maple and walnut through-neck running the full length of the instrument, with nyatoh body wings attached on either side. Neck-through construction eliminates the joint between neck and body entirely, which does two things: it improves sustain by letting vibration travel uninterrupted through a single piece of wood, and it removes the heel that would otherwise limit access to the highest frets. On a baritone, where the upper register already sits lower in pitch, that unobstructed access is genuinely useful.
Tone and Hardware
The ebony fretboard is a deliberate pairing with the baritone scale — its density produces the tight low-end response and clear articulation that keeps a heavily downtuned instrument from sounding indistinct. Dual humbuckers supply the output that high-gain playing requires. As with all Iron Label instruments, the appointments are minimal and the hardware is black, keeping the focus on function.
