The Savarez 540J is a high tension set with Alliance KF composite (carbon) trebles over HT Classic basses. HT Classic is Savarez's traditional silver-plated bass on a multifilament Stabilon core, with a direct, classic voice that sits between the bright Corum and the warm Cantiga. With the precise, brilliant Alliance trebles at high tension, the set offers strong projection and clear articulation. This is the set Geoff recommends on many of the Alhambra guitars at XGuitars.
Savarez has made strings in Lyon, France, since 1770 and pioneered the fluorocarbon treble with its Alliance line; its sets are color-coded by card: red for normal tension, blue for high, yellow for extra high. The 540R is the normal tension version; the 540CJ uses nylon trebles.
- KF ALLIANCE plain composite trebles (also called carbon strings)
- HT CLASSIC stabilon multifilament (specifically treated nylon) wound basses with rust protected silver plated metal.
